An analysis of United States foreign policy with Russia.

Post Cold-War Soviet Union had left the country in a state of shambles. The economic system was in ruins, the military was behind those of the western nations, and the governments ideologies were beginning to be questioned. When S.U. itself ceased to exist on December 25, 1991, the fall in States (Bush administration) initiated the redefining of human relationship between the two countries. The U.S. had technical intentions in mind, precisely things did not turn out the way they were expected. In twelve personal meetings since 1993, President Clinton and President Yeltsin fixed the foundation for a bilateral relationship based on cooperation. The United States remains committed to maintaining a constructive relationship with Russia in which it would seek to expand areas of cooperation and frankly resolve differences without confrontation. However, these good intentions failed to achieve any success of reviving the Russian economy or integrating it with the Western-based system (Wallander).
